The Golf Ball Incident

I was holding on to a golf ball after breaking my wrist. I used it for strength building exercises. After the vision of idolatry in 2006, when standing on my front porch one morning, the word of the lord came to me saying, ‘follow this golf ball and I will give you my living word’. So I started walking down the street carrying the golf ball and I had it in my mind that the word was at The Bookstore on River Road. When I arrived at the store, the word came to me and said ‘set the golf ball down on the steps-don’t take it in the store’. I thought all along that this was a religious book store but when I went inside about a Bible the woman replied, “We don’t have any Bibles here.’

I went outside and picked the golf ball up off the steps and had it in my mind that the word was at the Good Will. When I got to the store front, the word came to me saying ‘throw the ball down on the ground’. I threw the ball down in front of the store and it rolled across the building towards the entry doors. A woman came out of the doors pushing a baby carriage. She leaned down, picked up the ball and handed it to me and the word of the lord came saying ‘the word is not here’.

I had it come to mind that the word was at this place called The Door but when I arrived, the word came to me saying ‘drop the golf ball’. The ball rolled passed this place and I had to chase it down! There was a big diesel truck parked out front and the word came to me saying ‘they’re Baal worshippers and the word is not with them’. I had in mind to go to Fred Meyer. When I arrived at Fred Meyer, two employees were out front talking, so I approached them and asked if ‘they sold Bibles there’. They radioed inside and were told ‘No, they don’t sell Bibles’.

I then had in mind to go to St. Vincent de Paul, it was the last place I could think of. I threw the ball down in the Fred Meyer parking lot toward the St. Vincent de Paul and it rolled across the parking lot and stopped at the curb like it was waiting for me. It didn’t bounce or nothin’, it just stopped rolling. I picked it up and walked across the street, and threw the ball down in the parking lot by the Oak Warehouse. It rolled toward the St. Vincent de Paul and came to a stop at the corner of the building. I threw the ball down again in front of the store and it rolled until it stopped right in front of the entry doors. The word of the lord said ‘pick me up and go to the book section’. As I was walking toward the books two ladies came from the warehouse and I asked one if they had any Bibles? She said ‘yeah, follow me’. She led me to a bookcase filled with Bibles. As I looked at the bookcase, I didn’t know what to do. I noticed a woman sitting on the floor looking at books in the isle and occasionally taking a glace a me. Then, the word of the lord came to me and said, ‘drop the ball on the floor’. When I dropped the ball on the floor, it bounced and landed three shelves up, right in front of the American Bible by J.M. Powis Smith and Edgar J. Goodspeed. The book was covered in black shoe polish so I didn’t know what kind of book or Bible it was. I did not look.

I purchased the book and walked outside. I was going to keep the golf ball for a souvenir but the word came to me saying ‘when I was a child, I thought as a child, but now that I am a man, I put away childish ways, Corinthians 13:11, put the golf ball down in the parking lot and pick up the Bible for now you have become a man’. I skipped home, like a deer or something, happy to know I had the living word of God.

At home, using a deck of playing cards, I placed one playing card inside the book and opened the book to Jeremiah 1, Introduction to the Bible. I read, ‘What do you see, I said, I see the twig of an almond tree’. We had an almond tree in our front yard that died and the trunk was still in our back yard. I rushed to the back, cut a branch, thus receiving the living word of God.
